Linking the subject matter taught in the English workbooks to the real world is practical and fun for students. Our P2 classes have learned a procedural text type - a cookie recipe. Luckily, the students could enjoy the sweet cookies too, but only after identifying the ingredients and the verbs involved in the recipe.

The P3D class uses the Epic! app to supplement the guided reading lessons. The students are assigned certain books and then they are free to read independently by using the app. Epic! has a wide range of story types and caters towards all levels. The students enjoy progressing their reading, not only by using the story cards in class, but also by actively using technology available to them.

As you may or may not know, we have a team of very talented drama students here at LSY. The LSY English Drama Club held a wonderful Xmas drama at the end of 2015, in conjunction with YY3 Secondary School, the LSY Orchestra and the African Drumming Team. I'm still updating the video and pictures for 2015, but please take a look at the 2013 Xmas Nativity Drama, in this link by 'HongKongHughie' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyEfonYj72s

Happy 2016! It's been a long time since I have updated this webpage, but I hope to add many more pages in the coming year. To get the ball rolling, here is a link to the LSY Orchestra's very own website. I look forward to adding some more pages soon! http://www.lsyorchestra.com

This is the P3B English class. We have a shared reading lesson with Mr. Hill and Miss Lee. We are reading the story 'I Like You.' We have a fantastic song to sing that goes with the story. Miss Lee taught the 3B students some fun actions to perform while singing the song. After we read the story, we learn some new vocabulary. As you can see, the bright 3B students are eager to participate. Well done!

The P6 students went to visit an organic farm in Yuen Long.
The visit is part of a project based organic farming.
The students had to sow and plant their own plants, as well as
understand the features of pest control, soil maintenance, etc.
One step to becoming environmentally aware for the youth of Hong Kong!

As part of the P6 Project, the students were required to design a travel company tour that included a lunch and activities. Some of the groups had some excellent ideas, and decorated their posters very attractively.
I want to join the Fantasy Travel tour....how about you?

Last year the English Drama students worked very hard to practise the scripts and songs. We're hoping that this year we can do the same. English Drama is about using English in a fun and different way to express ourselves. Costumes, songs and dance are all the fun parts of our dramas!

As part of the P6 English Project, the P6 students visited the Central area with Mr. Hill and Miss Wu. They went to Dr. Sun Yan-Set Museum, followed by a tour of Mat Mo Temple, Pottinger st. and Shelly st. We shared a group lunch together.
The students were set tasks to interview foreign tourists in the area. The interviews were more detailed than they completed in P5. The students did a great job and impressed the teachers in their ability to locate and interview people of different nationalities. Having the confidence to approach and meet people in English is useful for practical situations in the future.
